The Art of Creating Body Scrubs at Castle Hot Springs
This season always brings out my inner maker—there’s something about the season that feels like an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and create beautiful things with your hands. And this year, that feeling arrived early during one of the most magical little getaways: a couples trip to Castle Hot Springs for my friend Chelsey’s birthday.
If you’ve never been, Castle Hot Springs is heaven on earth—a natural oasis with geothermal pools, organic gardens, and the kind of stillness that instantly resets your nervous system. But what I didn’t expect was that one of the highlights would be… a body scrub making class.
Yes, picture this: a group of adults—women and men—huddled around bowls of sea salt and jojoba oil like we were in a cozy apothecary in the middle of the desert. And honestly? It was pure magic.
Farm-to-Table… for Your Skin
Castle Hot Springs grows so much of their botanicals on-site, and every ingredient we worked with was literally farm-to-table—only this time, the “table” was our mixing station.
Lavender buds, calendula petals, lemon peel, mint, eucalyptus, rose petals… all organic, all freshly dried, all wildly fragrant. The essential oils? Hand-selected and high-grade. And the jojoba oil? 100% pure, golden, and naturally hydrating.
There’s something grounding about creating something from the earth, with ingredients grown just a few yards away. It felt like old-world crafting meets luxury wellness.
A Workshop Filled With Laughter (and Surprisingly Competitive Husbands)
What I loved most was how fun it was to do this as a group.
Each couple claimed a recipe from the menu—some went for citrus blends, others for calming lavender, and the guys… well… they got very into perfecting their herb grinding technique. By the end, everyone was swirling, sniffing, adjusting oil drops with the seriousness of Michelin-star chefs.
My favorite part? Watching the men, who claimed they were “just here for support,” become fully invested - and illegally making multiple! At one point someone’s husband declared:
“Ours smells like actual heaven. Everyone else should be worried.”
This—this feeling of creating, laughing, learning—this is what Beverly Hills Farm is all about. Connection. Play. Getting your hands a little dirty. Slowing down long enough to make something with intention.
What We Learned
Aside from the pure fun of it, the class taught us so much about skincare and the power of natural ingredients:
✨ Why Jojoba Oil Is Liquid Gold
Jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural sebum, making it deeply hydrating and restorative without clogging pores. It’s vitamin-rich, anti-inflammatory, and soothing—basically nature’s moisturiser.
✨ The Power of Dried Botanicals
Flowers and herbs add texture, aromatherapy, and even skin benefits.
Calendula is healing, lavender is calming, mint is energizing.
✨ Essential Oil Blending Is an Art
A little goes a long way—but combinations like eucalyptus + mint or geranium + vanilla are intoxicating.
It felt like a ritual—simple, sensory, and intentional.
And the best part?
We all left with our own personalized body scrub to bring home. Mine is sitting in my shower now, smelling like lemon lavender heaven.
Why This Craft Stole My Heart
This trip reminded me why I love creating. It’s the same energy I feel during fall: slowing down, savoring, making something beautiful with the people who matter most.
Body scrubs may seem simple, but the experience was anything but. It was:
✨ Meditative
✨ Creative
✨ Bonding
✨ Playful
✨ And surprisingly luxurious
This is truly what Beverly Hills Farm represents—a blending of nature, creativity, ritual, and joy. Even the guys got into it, which honestly made it ten times more fun. On the next post, I will share how to make your own!
Happy Creating,
Beau 🌿✨
