Pumpkin Flowers
Fall is all about Pumpkins. It’s the universal sign the it’s time to slow down and start hibernating. For me, that’s a major cue that crafting and baking season is underway. If you can’t be bothered with the mess of carving pumpkins this is a beautiful way to create some compostable fall decorations for your house and/or in America, your Thanksgiving table.
This craft can be done with any style or color pumpkin you like. This year, I decided to try with white fairytale pumpkins. My children and I went for a nature walk and collected some local flowers and then dried them the old fashioned way, between parchment and two heavy books for a few days. For the rest, I overnighted some stunning dried flowers from Amazon.
My mum and my kids all sat down and spent time together designing where the flowers would be placed and then brushed the homemade non-toxic glue to seal. This glue is great to have on hand and can be used for lots of at home crafts. This was an activity that really took days and really took us through fall break. Also, I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Not only are they the perfect fall decoration down the center of my dining table, it’s a beautiful reminder of quality Fall time spent with my most treasured people.
Tip: Keep your pumpkins, particularly if they’re white - out of the sun! They will turn yellow particularly after you paint on the glue.

Pumpkin Flower Directions
This is the fun part! Take a look at your pumpkin and examine where the lines are, the bumps are and decide how you want to incorporate that into your design. It’s easier to try and get an idea of where you want everything placed before you just start sticking flowers down. That way, you can deliberately place and space your flowers out. If you’re one of those types that just likes to go for it and see what happens, that’s great too! More flowers can be ordered and delivered within 24 hours! Just put your favorite tunes on, get a mug or a glass of your favorite drink and get lost in the crafting zone.
Happy Fall!
